Originally from Springfield, Missouri, Nick Bormann earned a Bachelors Degree in Art from Missouri State University. Bormann came to the Art Department at Oklahoma State University in 1966 with a Master of Fine Arts Degree from the University of Arkansas.
During his tenure at OSU Bormann taught courses in Drawing, Basic Design, Typography, Serigraphy, Graphic Design, and Computer Graphics. During a sabbatical in 1980, Bormann worked at Hinkle, Crawford and Davies, a graphic design firm in Tulsa. In addition to teaching assignments, Bormann was coordinator for the Graphic Design Student Internship Program and Academic Advisor for graphic design majors. Bormann served as Department Head from fall, 1998 through spring, 2005. More recently, Bormann has devoted more time to digital photography, and has collaborated on works with his wife Carol, a fiber artist.
